Parent Aiding
MAY AIDING SCHEDULE (PDF)
APRIL AIDING SCHEDULE (PDF)
A parent aide is scheduled each school day for each class. Parents should check the monthly aiding schedule to see their aiding assignments and note it on their calendars. The frequency with which one will be scheduled to aid depends on the school's enrollment (generally, 8-10 times per year). If you are unable to aid on an assigned day, you must find a substitute. This can be done by trading assignments with another parent or hiring someone to take your place from a list of people available for paid aiding.
Arrangements can be made for working parents who would like to "buy-out" of their aiding obligations for the whole year. This relieves the parent from having to find a replacement. The Director will arrange for the scheduling of an aide to fill in for those who have "bought out." The charge for this is the usual cost of paying an aide for the number of times scheduled, plus a nominal fee for the handling arrangement. Payments can be made on an annual or monthly basis.
As a rule, you will not aid in your child's class for the first 1-2 months, to allow the younger children time to acclimate to their new surroundings. This is to ensure the teacher of your full assistance in all areas of the classroom. However, you are welcome to be an extra person in your child's class at any time. Just make arrangements with your child's teacher before visiting.
Aides must arrive by 8:45am and be available until 12:30pm. Please try to become familiar with the aiding guidelines prior to your first scheduled aiding day.
Important: No younger siblings my accompany the parent aide to the class on the mornings assigned. Your class representative may be able to help you find another parent with whom you can trade babysitting, or you may consult the Directory for babysitting options.
